Definition: Most shoes taper toward the toe or are just narrow up and down. A shoe with a high toe box is one that doesn’t taper to the same degree; rather, it forms a drop-off at the toe. This allows more toe room up and down and allows more air in the toe area.
Low Toe Box
High toe box
Benefits: The more room at the toe (up and down), the less heat and friction is generated and less chance the toes will rub against the top of the shoe. This reduces the chances that corns will develop, as well fungus or ingrown toenails.
