Definition: A bunion regulator guides the big toe toward its normal position while gently stretching tendons and muscles to help slow progression of the bunion. It is worn at night (it is too big and bulky to wear in a shoe). They come in right and left feet and by small, medium and large.
Benefits: Those whose bunions either hurt or who do not want surgery may want to give these a try. It stretches the tendons and muscles around the 1st metatarsal joint and provides increased flexibility at the joint. It does not replace the need to wear an arch support with metatarsal support to take pressure off the 1st metatarsal .
