Definition: Ball of the foot gel cushions reduce pressure at the ball of the foot while walking or standing. They are generally self-sticking and washable, allowing daily washing. They can be re-used for long periods of time. Those with metatarsal fat pad atrophy and callusing can find some relief with these cushions. Where more cushion is needed due to general metatarsal discomfort, these pads can alleviate some of the pain. They are thin and do not usually add bulk in the shoe.
These do not replace the need for arch supports with a metatarsal lift; they are a good addition for those with the conditions described above.
Benefits: Fat pad atrophy and other metatarsal conditions sometimes require more than an arch support with metatarsal lift. This is a good product to use for those conditions.
