Smart Feet is an authorized outlet for shoe donation for 1) Old Savannah City Mission and 2) Soles4Souls. You can drop shoes off at our store and we clean them up, put new shoe beds in them and get them to whichever agency you prefer. This is a simple way to recycle those shoes you aren’t wearing but don’t want to trash. There are many willing feet and we know there are many willing givers who just need to know where the box is!
There are shoes, however, that we can’t fix up so you can throw them out. They includes heels that are too run over to be safe and those with holes in them, such as:

To thank and encourage you to recycle the shoes you aren’t wearing, we give a 10% discount off the most expensive item you purchase if you leave a pair of shoes in the box here at our store. (Sorry, you don’t get 10% off for each pair you leave, we can’t thank you that much!) We happily take shoes from anyone who is not a customer, so please – spread the word.
Every year the Old Savannah City Mission holds a picnic in Forsyth Park the weekend before Thanksgiving for their clients, the homeless and anyone else who wants to come. Hundreds of volunteers work to put the meal together; even Paula Deen contributes to the meal. There is live music, foot washing, and things for the kids.
Each year Smart Feet brings shoes. No matter how many we bring, they are gone within an hour of being set out and we collect shoes all year long!

Soles4Souls
This group started as a result of the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia. Wayne Elsey, an executive in the shoe wear industry, was watching coverage of it on TV and knew he wanted to help but didn’t know how. The image of a single shoe that had washed up on the beach gave him the idea and inspiration he needed. He contacted friends in the shoe wear business to see if they had shoes to donate and over 250,000 pairs of shoes were delivered to Indonesia.
When Katrina rolled into Louisiana and Mississippi in 2005, he called the same friends and a million shoes were delivered along the Gulf coast. Pretty amazing, isn’t it?
With no dearth of natural disasters or great need in the world, the immediate and generous responses to his request for shoes turned into a permanent mission: ”We procure shoes and get them to those in need.”
