STRETCHABLE UPPERS
Definition: A stretchable upper refers to a shoe with nylon, spandex or other stretchable and breathable material placed in the vamp and toecap of a shoe instead of the standard leather.
Different styles are available with the stretchable portion of the
shoe placed only on top of the vamp (above left) or all the way to the
sole of the shoe (upper right). They range in from orthopedic style
to a higher fashion style (at www.xsensible.com).
Benefits: These shoes are good
for those with hammertoes, calluses, corns, arthritis and other foot
sensitivities where the standard high toe box or spot stretching doesn’t
provide the relief desired.
